Santa Cruz Bicycles

For the last 5 years, I have lead industrial design at Santa Cruz Bicycles. I created a long term design strategy for all models and have now resigned every frame in the line on a 3 year cycle. This has been about 15+ frames so far as well as a few accessories. When I began at Santa Cruz I was put in charge of industrial design and also had my own design engineering projects. While I still take on frame design projects, I also lead the design team, support marketing and have helped develop a new line of E-MTBs. Below are a select few pieces of work from my time at Santa Cruz.

The images above are of the Santa Cruz V10 7. I lead industrial design for this frame as well as created the custom one-off livery shown in these photos.

One of my unique projects at Santa Cruz was designing a frame and fork for Danny MacAskill the Scottish trials rider. This was a challenging project since his custom made, unique frame had to be a strong brand piece,  while being uniquely different than any other frames we make due to its small wheels and rigid design.

Below is one of my latest projects to be released at Santa Cruz, the fourth generation Tallboy. This project took our low-shock layout to a new model and achieved a clean and cohesive design. The Tallboy blends the front and rear triangles together while making the upper link a focal point. It creates a long and low look for the frame which implies speed.

Here is one of my newest projects, the Bronson 4C, released June 2021. This carries though the brand ID we have been working towards with every new bike: Clean design, truth in material and just the right amount of stealth.
